My topic is a pretty easy one to research, however there are a few things I would like to know more about. Some of these things are about how the mind works. Is there some mental dysfunction that plays a role in those who suffer from insanity? What triggers these people to become deranged and sometimes even violent? Which type of abuse (physical, emotional, or sexual) is the worst and does the most damage to the brain? I would also like to know more about what can cause child abuse of any kind to happen in a family. Does it only happen in a household where alcoholism or drugs are present, or are there other factors that might allow it to happen in a perfectly normal household? Also, if that is the case, what might those factors be? All of these questions I plan to use to help with my research.

What I Already Know About My Topic
When I started this research blog, there were some things I already knew about child abuse. Child abuse normally occurs in households where drinking, drugs, or financial problems are present. When things are going wrong at work or at home, the parents’ anger usually gets taken out on their kids. But that does not mean that it is right; kids every day get abused and even die because of child abuse. Child abuse is a serious problem and can follow a child into adulthood. Kids who are abused are more likely to become abusers rather than kids who live in a healthy family environment. A child should not have to be afraid to come home after school because they do not want their parents to beat or hit them. It does not stop at physical abuse either; there is emotional as well as sexual abuse too. The abuse I will be addressing in this blog is sexual child abuse.
The Story Behind My Topic
The other week in Civics class we were discussing our Project Citizen topic. We were talking about one of the groups which happened to be child abuse. Then the subject began to drift to insanity and if that might be connected to abuse in children. Going over this with our class caused me to think whether or not this might be true. As I began to think about this even more, I found out that we had a research blog to do in English II. This got me really excited because it gave me a chance to research whether or not insanity is a consequence of child abuse. The research question I have decided on using is, “Is insanity a consequence of sexual child abuse?” I am really excited about this blog because it is on a subject I feel strongly about. I am sure that I can find plenty of information on this subject using the questions I have constructed.
